Overall Packet8 Review:

Packet8 is more expensive than comparable Voip plans with not much added benefits. The Packet8 annual plans costs $239 compared to $199/yr. The Packet8 monthly plan costs $24.99/month compared to $14.95/ month for thr PhonePower monthly plan and $23.95/month for the Lingo monthly World Max plan which offers free unlimited calls to 100 countries. Having said that if you're switching to VoIP from a regular phone company you save money. Plus 8x8 is a great way to add video to your calls. Packet8's support for E911 calling sets it apart from the rest of the VoIP crowd. Its backed by a stable company. Its pricing is attarctive for new users making the switch from traditional phones. 30 days money back guarantee is also a safety net for consumers.

Packet8(8x8) Final Review:

8x8 Packet8 VoIP service is the first VoIP service to offer 911 that's close to what you get with a traditional landline phone (it's the same 911 service that cell phone callers receive). Dubbed Enhanced 911, the service provides that an emergency operator will receive caller information on his or her screen when you call. (With other VoIP services, calls to 911 aren't always treated as emergencies, and they rely on callers to provide their name and location.) In addition to its residential plans, Packet8 offers plans tailored to businesses, videophone service plans, and flat-rate plans for callers to Europe and Asia. You can transfer your current number to Packet8 service (area codes are available in all but four states in the United States), and you can also purchase a second virtual number in another area code. Under light network traffic conditions, Packet8's voice quality is comparable to that of landline phones, but like many VoIP services, conversations proved difficult when we were uploading files to the Web during calls. Still, with its low rates, excellent geographical coverage, and E911 support, Packet8 has plenty to offer as a replacement for your current phone service.

Worked good first two years since it was very used. Once tried using it on daily basis it kept going out of service. I had to power cycle my cable modem, router and voip device. Tried switching to another company but 8x8 refused to release my number, I had to cancel my account pay for my next bill and wait for a refound( yea right?) However I made the mistake to sign up for the one year deal unfortunaly they made it auto renewable with no previous notice on the day it will auto renew. I left for college and no one at home knew how to power cycle the internet devices, tech support was good help but useless when the problem gets resolved physicly. I was pissed off and tried canceling the one year deal but did not work, had to wait until the renewal date. I was then screwed for a second year since such date was never revealed until it had passed. I eneded up paying a month of service with another company while waiting to import my phone number from 8x8. I'm careless at this point them keeping the already one year paid as long as I get my number imported to someone else. Currently waiting for Aug 17 to come so I can call to request "one account change". STAY AWAY FROM 8X8 their server (and only piece of working equipment) is located at the west cost since I'm onthe east cost the service is horrible now that they have introduce virtual office and business class stuff. Why is there not negative rating here? There should be for 8x8. By the way, I have cable high speed internet 7mbs connection with an overclocked router for max speed, so no excuses here on my internet service.

I have been with packet 8 almost 2 years. Started out good but the last 6 months have been bad. Most incoming calls don't even ring my phone anymore. Please will text my cell to let me know they tried to call. I have to dial a number 3-4 times using the area code and trying without for in area before the call will go through. I have rest the modem 3 times like they said, still no better. was paying 15.99 now up to 24.99. Looking to change and fast!
