Viatalk Review:
ViaTalk's inexpensive service combined with reliable call quality makes it very attactrive. ViaTalk customer complaints are few and far between. Its plans and pricings are at par with established VOIP comapanies but at a cheaper rate. ViaTalk is worth a try and with the 1 Year free offer its price is unbeatable.

Viatalk Final Review:
Voice Over Internet is the revolutionary new technology, often referred to as the internet phone, that uses a broadband connection to make phone calls to anyone in the world with high quality at a low cost. It's easy to use. Simply plug in the ViaTalk adapter to your broadband modem, and you can use a regular telephone to call anyone in the world. The price that Viatalk offers is amazing. ViaTalk offers telephone services for as low as $12.95/mo a month (Vt_500 2 Year Sign Up), and you can get unlimited calling for $15/mo (Vt_Unlimited 1 Year Sign Up). Calls to Canada are free, and most international calls have extreamely affordable rates that you can't get with landline services. Viatalk's customer service center is based in the uSA. Most other VOIP providers have their call centers in India or Phillipines and get complaints about poor customer service. Viatalk's call center being in the USA has an added advantage.

I have had ViaTalk since early 2008. The porting process went smoothly, and we decided to use DECT6.0 phones connected to our PAP2T adapter versus the existing wiring. Initially, the call quality was not great, but I chalked it up to the speed of my DSL connection. Luckily, I had a much faster cable internet connection, and ViaTalk worked much better over it. The "nickel-and-diming-you-to-death" is the only problem I have with this service. I, too noticed the higher than max FUSF charge recently, but I am not ready to complain yet because my dealings with the company have been satisfactory. I have the toll free number, as well as the fax service and the additional line. I use them all with no problems. The phone service we have experienced from ViaTalk is comparable to when we had a landline, only we are paying a fraction of the cost (at least for now). Could it be better? Of course. However, the level of service we have received up to this point has been decent.

Terrible customer support or better to say not support at all. Invoices are not clear, new surcharges often implied. Found out they collect for FUSF (VoIP) more than maximum allowed (up to FCC quarterly percent) sales taxes inaccurate, excise taxes no explanation. Their technicians in ticket reply pointing to wiki web site to read about taxes – so unprofessional. I bet any customer who tries to figure out how they are billed will find same problems. Pay a few bucks more for real service and avoid frustration and time.

I hate this service. I signed up for a 2 year deal. Had problems from the beginning ..... The Service is down every other day, they have worst customer support, no proper technical personal who can guide us, they themselves donno what the issue is........ I cancelled the sevice in 6 months and the frustrating part is the customer care personal are very rude.....can't handle it

Beyond Viatalk's extremely poor customer service, my experience with them has been that they don't keep their commitments to their customers. When I first joined two years ago, they told me that I'd receive $50 upon my first renewal if I got a new customer to sign up for the service. I got my mother to switch to Viatalk, and at renewal time at the end of my first year, they told me I'd see the $50 credit upon renewal. But when I renewed, the credit wasn't given. I then had to engage in a battle with them for months to secure this $50. Even though I had written proof of their commitment, they didn't care, and they also didn't care that I brought them a customer. My experience is that once they "capture" you as a customer and have your money, you are of little concern to them. If you do choose Viatalk, whatever you do, DON'T sign up for anything beyond month-to-month service.

They will charge you a connection fee for serice they you can never be able to use. If youa re lucky enought to get a dial tone your call will drop in less than 5 minutes. If you want your phone ported they will charge you for service for over a month while they get it ported. Then for all the headaches you suffer they will charge you a $49.95 disconnection fee, whether your fulfill the original agreement with them or not. They will never apologize for thier lack of service and will provide poor customer service, right up to the president of the company. If you don't believe me look at many the BBB complaints and the many review sites that warn the same thing I am going to tell you.....RUN as far and as fast as you can from them. If you still willing to risk it, don't say you weren't warned!

Ordered an 800 number. They sent me an email telling me the number. I then ordered letterhead, business cards with that number printed. After spending over $1000 dollars on printing they refuse to even get on the phone and apologise for the number being wrong. Instead they send me another email telling me that the same original number, assigned to someone else, was again my number. If you need your phone service for anything besides ordering pizza use another company.

I just signed up with this company and there is a setup fee of $29.99 (I called to make sure because this site claims that there is no setup fee, they informed me that this site was incorrect). Also, there is $9.95 shipping cost for the equipment (just an FYI). And the 2 lines isn't 2 phone number, it just means that you can make and receive calls while you are on the phone (using an adapter cord to another phone)- you get one phone number. All in all, I'm switching from Voip.com because ViaTalk's price ($199/2 years) is unbeatable!

I have ViaTalk VOIP for 2 weeks. I Was able to make outgoing calls with adapter as delivered. I could not receive incoming calls or receive voicemail. A call to tech support resulted in about a 10 minute wait. Which I consider reasonable. I reached a tech person who spoke english. Adapter had configuration errors. Tech person was able to correct problem in about 20-25 minutes. He walked me through changing settings on adapter. All features seems to work at this point. Called tech support 3 more times with setup/feature questions. I was "testing the water" while in my trial period as I am considering porting my phone number if service works out. I waited no longer than 12 minutes on any call. All of these calls were helpful. Voice quality is good. Volume is a bit on the low side which I corrected by turning phone volume up at maximum setting. Many features for the price. Went with $199 a year and received a year free. Please READ TERMS CAREFULLY. Unlimited calling plan is limited to 5100 minutes a month and 1.9 cent/min over this limit. There are fees for cancelling after the trial period, etc. I read and accepted these terms knowingly. At this point I rate a 8 of 10 which in comparison I only rate my local phone company 6 of 10. My local calling area is very limited which is why I turned to VOIP.

I will grant you that different people have different experiences with every vendor, VOIP or otherwise. My experience with ViaTalk has been terrible. I'm a pretty easy to please guy but the voice quality of my ViaTalk account has degraded from bad to useless. There technical support has not offered any useful advice and the amount of time I've spent on hold with them is worse than the DMV. I'm now switching my service but ViaTalk is sitting on my phone number refusing to transfer it to my new provider. I'm told that by law they have 50 days to transfer the number. It's now been 43 and I have no doubt that they will wait out to the last second and squeeze me for the last possible penny they can get from me. ViaTalk has been the worst consumer experience I have ever had.
